Fred is throwing in the towel

Posted by Mays @ 03:34 PM

Fox News just reported that Fred is dropping out of the race to become the Republican nominee for President of the United States. It’s a very sad day. In fact, it might be the first time I will have cried in 6 years. I’m now torn between Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani. A very sad day. *sniff*

*double sniff*
this really makes me sad, although I had a feeling it was coming.  stupid caucus voters.  maybe they should start with the non-retarded states next time.

p.s. I think I’m gonna have to go with Romney now.

Well, they absolutely need to put the closed caucuses at the beginning. Independents and sometimes DEMOCRATS have been allowed to vote in the primaries so far. Which is a gross misrepresentation as to how the Republican party as a whole really feels. The whole primary system is gay, if you ask me.

I love Romney but I question his electability. He’s certainly got the money, but I think there are too many people out there who are prejudice against him because of his religion. He’s the strongest conservative left in the race, though.

Ugh! I’m utterly disgusted!!

I thought Mike Huckabee was fairly conservative… am I wrong about that?  I haven’t really followed him, just hearsay really.

vote for denzel washington, you can NOT go wrong with him i mean just look at his movies! *snicker*

I’m heartbroken as well. I have no idea who I’m leaning toward now… *sigh* I like Huckabee, but I seriously doubt his electability.

Mays  on  01/23  at  10:52 AM

Mike Huckadork is a pro-life liberal. He wants this nation, from my interpretation, to be a theocracy. SCREW Mick Huckabee. Romney is the closest thing to a conservative left.

I’d vote Denzel..remember how he fought for his kid’s surgery or whatever in that movie...what was that called?  heehehee

John Q.

What’s up with all the liberals on the Republican ticket then?

You said Ron Paul was a liberal, and Mike Huckabee was a liberal, why don’t they just get on the liberal ticket?

Doesn’t Ron Paul have some of the same/similar views as Fred though?

Mays  on  01/23  at  11:57 AM

I’d be hard pressed to find where I said Ron Paul is a liberal…

McCain & Huckabee are very liberal. You can quote me on that.

The reason they’re on the republican ticket is the fact that they have fundamental core beliefs that are attributed to the republican party. You can’t assume that every person in the same party has the exact same beliefs as their peers.

So that spectrum is pretty broad. Yes, McCain and Huckabee are “republicans” but by and large, especially in McCain’s case, they have more left-to-center than the common republican.

McCain is the worst. He coauthored McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, didn’t support the Bush Tax Cuts, was a member of the Gang of 14 which was successful in preventing the republicans from eliminating the filibuster. He’s also against a line-item-veto. He’s against most domestic natural resource drilling… All these things are huge issues and fly in the face of the republican ideology.

McCain is good on the war, which is great, but is adamantly opposed to water-boarding, which has been proven to work, and is NOT torture.

On the Ron Paul note, he’s a libertarian.. He is aligned with Fred on a lot of issues, but he’s also an isolationist. Which, if you ask the Founding Fathers, is a good thing, but we don’t live in 1776 anymore where it took 2 months for British fleets to cross the Atlantic ocean in order to invade us. We live in 2008, and we have world economies and America has to protect her interests and her allies. We tried isolationism at the onsets of WWI and WWII and a lot of people died because of it. We came into the wars at a disadvantage. The holocaust happened because of it. Isolationism isn’t a reality in this world anymore, especially when we’re the largest promoters of freedom and security in the world.

1 good note about Huckabee: he’s for the fair tax.
1 good thing about Paul: he’s great on the economy.
1 good thing about McCain: I’ve got nothing here…

There’s no ideal candidate left… But I can only throw support behind Giuliani or Romney at this point, Even though Giuliani is horrible on the Second Amendment and Romney will probably try to propose a horrible Nationalized Heal Insurance plan.

amyd  on  01/23  at  02:20 PM

But Huckabee was a SOUTHERN BAPTIST PREACHER.  Which means that I’m going to hell if I don’t vote for him.  Or so I’ve heard.

n0ia  on  01/23  at  02:52 PM

LOL what?!?! Who says you HAVE to vote for him?

Mays: Maybe you said he was libertarian, I’ll try to find it. smile

amyd  on  01/23  at  04:46 PM

I’m just kidding.. It’s just that from what I hear, lots of church-going folk are basing their support for him solely on his Southern Baptist background and not even looking at his political stances.

Mays  on  01/30  at  11:31 AM

I want to correct something I said in my most recent comment… McCain is FOR the line-item veto. Which is cool. Thank you. Carry on.
